Presenting the new Hocking Hills Luxury Lodge in Ohio. The Painted Horse Lodge, located in the heart of the state parks and beautiful secluded surroundings.
Owners, Patrick and Sue Carter Foy knew they wanted to be in the Hocking Hill’s lodging business. Finding the perfect luxury lodge for their first endeavor was a daunting task. Mrs. Foy grew up in Hocking County in one of the most beautiful private second-home retreats in the country. Hocking Hills is home to Hide Away Hills, Wildlife, shimmering lakes, waterfalls, caves and starry nights these were all part of her everyday life.

The Foys’ knew what they would desire if they were guests of a beautiful lodge here. Many years of traveling and staying in resorts gave them the insight of how they wanted their guests to feel when staying at the Painted Horse Lodge.
It would take a year and a half before deciding to purchase Painted Horse Lodge. Months and months, every weekend spent looking at homes and properties, even making offers on a few properties, cumulated from a vision into being able to present Painted Horse Lodge to vacationers.
It was love at first site. The log home was only four years old and had been owned by a couple as their private vacation retreat. The former owners had taken such good care of their magnificent home, there was very little for the Foys to do in terms of getting it ready for vacationers. A lower level was completed in April of 2011. The stunning private home has been turned into a supremely elegant vacation lodge. Worthy of the title: ‘Best Luxury Lodge in Hocking Hills’.

The vision has become a reality. Huge log poles support the third level of the home with a hand-hewn half-split log staircase as the focal point of the great room. A river rock floor-to-ceiling fireplace encases a Buck Stove wood burner. The gourmet kitchen has the matching river rock island…and the hickory wood cabinets make the kitchen even more impressive. Massive expanses of glass windows and doors allow the beauty of Hocking Hills to flow inside. Sunlight and starry nights make this home truly remarkable.
Sitting on the covered-deck rocking chairs watching the butterflies and hummingbirds takes your breath away. The owners have planted certain plants that attract such beauty…sort of like Mother Natures buffet.
Painted Horse Lodge is nestled in the woods, high on a bluff, offering scenic views that compel one to grab their camera. The owners’ love of birds has resulted in so many bird feeders that cardinals, gold finches, tit mice, chickadees and woodpeckers all flock to the yard like it’s a midnight buffet on a cruise ship.

The thick underbrush and trees attracts deer. An early morning or evening viewing time to watch deer is another opportunity to grab the camera. And don’t forget spotting fox, coyotes and squirrels to round out your nature vacation.
Painted Horse Lodge has one of the few grass yards available to walk on and around. So now the owners are also lawn mowing experts. The back yard slopes gently down to the large fire pit…of course stocked with wood.
Moving indoors, the luxury lodge has been decorated and detailed like a sumptuous western lodge. Heavy furniture, some pieces custom made for the lodge, allows for ease of entertainment and relaxation combined.
Three levels allow the guests privacy and plenty of room for gathering. Four private bedrooms, each with a bark/pine log bed and closet, and three full baths ensures the guests ‘ comfort and privacy, as the home accommodates only 8 guests. The owners personal collection of favorite artist pieces now adorn the home…Bev Dolittle, Rance Hood, the former owners pottery and a collection of local nature photographers’ work.
The owners understand the level of excellence that their guests expect. Spices, coffees, teas are provided, as well as every kitchen item that would be expected. There is nothing left out of the kitchen…sharp knives, napkins, placemats, all utensils…the kitchen is better stocked than most primary homes.
The three baths have thick-smooth-to-the-skin soft bath linens as well as travelling toiletries. The beds are made with pressed turned down service, four pillows each…all of soft 100% cotton.
There is nothing like sitting in the new 8-person hot tub…hot bubbly water easing your pains away….either turn the evening hot tub lights on….or not. Enjoy the hot tub waterfall….yes, a waterfall!
Painted Horse Lodge guests love their experience! So many accolades and praises…and return guests speak to the level of hospitality offered. You’ll hear the same sounds our guests have enjoyed…Nature. Experience your unforgettable memory.
